Providing Ayurvedic treatments. Why am I?
I first came across Ayurveda when I was solo-travelling across India in 2016. I was into yoga and so, ayurveda naturally came into conversation with people I’d meet. Fast forwarding some of my travels, I bought an Ayurvedic self-healing book in Rishikesh which I’d read bits of on train journeys. The philosophy of the pancha maha-bhutas (5-great elements) made sense to me.
Now, around that time, I was spending a lot of time meditating and developed knee pain. This became worse and I also lost a lot of weight. I realised I needed a new yoga teacher who could really help me. So, I went back to India in 2017 and signed up for a course that had been recommended. The teacher there gave all the students an opportunity to have an ayurvedic consultation - I jumped at the idea. Dr. Vani, prescribed me a bottle of oil to apply to my knees as well as herbs to help with my digestive fire. This is when my ayurvedic journey really began. Over the course of the last nine years, my ayurvedic journey has deepened by:
Receiving tens of ayurvedic treatments
Meeting more ayurvedic practitioners - both in India and the UK.
Integrating ayurvedic rituals and philosophy into my way of thinking - and into my life.
And I feel much healthier and happier for it!
This is a perfect continual professional development choice. Having been a bodywork therapist and having an interest in Ayurveda, this is ideal. I look forward to opening an Ayurvedic massage clinic sooner after passing the examination.
